Flu Vaccinations
We will be starting flu vaccination of our patients in early October.
Patients over the age of 65 years are to receive flu vaccine AND covid vaccine booster in the one visit. To get the Covid Booster it must be 4 months since your last Covid vaccine or Covid Infection.
Who can get a free flu vaccine
You can get a free flu vaccine if you are:
- aged 65 years and older
- aged 2 to 17 years
- a healthcare worker
- pregnant
- living in a nursing home or other long-term care facility
- in regular contact with pigs, poultry or waterfowl
People with these conditions can also get a free flu vaccine:
- chronic heart disease, including acute coronary syndrome
- chronic liver disease
- chronic kidney failure
- chronic respiratory disease, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, moderate or severe asthma, or bronchopulmonary dysplasia
- chronic neurological disease including multiple sclerosis, hereditary and degenerative disorders of the central nervous system
- diabetes
- Down syndrome
- haemoglobinopathies
- a body mass index (BMI) over 40
- immunosuppression due to disease or treatment (including asplenia or hyposplenism, and all cancer patients)
- children with a moderate to severe neurodevelopmental disorder such as cerebral palsy
- children on long-term aspirin therapy
- any condition that can compromise respiratory function, like spinal cord injury, seizure disorder or other neuromuscular disorder, especially people also attending special schools or day centres
Free flu vaccines will be offered to carers or household contacts of people who have:
- a health condition listed above
- Down syndrome

KIDS AGED 2-17 - BOOK CLINIC
Children aged 2 to 17 can get the nasal flu vaccine for free. Your child does not have to be in an at-risk group to receive the vaccine. This is a nasal spray vaccine - no needles!
COVID / FLU COMBO - For those over 65 &/or Immunocompromised ONLY - BOOK CLINIC
For patients aged 65 and over it is recommended to receive both the Flu vaccine and Covid booster. Both can be administered on the same day. However there must be 4 months between your last Covid booster vaccine or Covid-19 infection.

We will open up further appointment slots as vaccine delivery allows so please continue to check availability (delivered alternate weeks to us).
Adult Aged 18- 64 years flu vaccine alone - BOOK CLINIC
Flu vaccine is free for those patients who meet the HSE's eligibility criteria as detailed above.
PRIVATE VACCINATION
Due to manufacturer's stock limitation there are currently no private Flu Vaccine stocks available.
Therefore the flu vaccine is currently not available to those who are not in the 'at risk' group above.
