FLU VACCINE 2022 / 2023
We will be starting flu vaccination of our patients in early October.
You will be invited to book for the relevant vaccine(s) via Calendly (an online booking system).
Patients over the age of 65 years are to receive flu vaccine AND covid vaccine booster in the one visit. To get the Covid Booster it must be 4 months since your last Covid vaccine or Covid Infection.
The flu vaccine is for ADULTS in the 'at risk' groups below.
We strongly recommend people in the following at-risk groups get the flu vaccine:

People aged 65 years and over

Pregnant women

People (adults and children) with long term conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, liver, kidney disease, cancer, chronic lung disease including COPD, asthma or neurological diseases

People with cancer

People whose immune system is impaired due to disease or treatment

Persons who are obese who have a body mass index (BMI) of over 40
-
People on long-term aspirin treatment
-
People with Down syndrome
-
Residents of nursing homes and other long-stay institutions
-
Healthcare workers
-
Carers and household contacts of people at medical risk of the complications of flu*

People with regular close contact with poultry, water fowl or pigs

KIDS AGED 2-17 - BOOK CLINIC
Children aged 2 to 17 can get the nasal flu vaccine for free. Your child does not have to be in an at-risk group to receive the vaccine.
Aged 65 and Over - BOOK CLINIC
For patients aged 65 and over it is recommended to receive both the Flu vaccine and Covid booster. Both can be administered on the same day. However there must be 4 months between your last Covid booster vaccine or Covid-19 infection.

We will open up further appointment slots as vaccine deliery allows so please continue to check availability (delivered alternate weeks to us).
Aged 18- 64 years - BOOK CLINIC
Flu vaccine is free for those patients who meet the HSE's eligibility criteria.
Covid boosters can also be administered to patients who are immuno-compromised.
PRIVATE VACCINATION
Due to manufacturer's stock limitation there are currently no private Flu Vaccine stocks available.
Therefore the flu vaccine is currently not available to those who are not in the 'at risk' group above.
